ACRE VINEYARDS

  • Morgaen Lee Vineyard, located on the valley floor, benefits from crisp cool mornings and sunny warm afternoons. The vines sit in heavy clay loam soil. Through use of a Geneva Double Curtain (GDC) trellising system the grapes are broadly spaced for ideal sun exposure and protection from frost. 31 acres of 100% certified organically farmed Sauvignon Blanc vines, family owned, fifth generation growers.

  • Just north of the town of St. Helena along Highway 29, is Betty’s Vineyard, which was planted by Van Ballentine of Ballentine Family Vineyards in 1953 for his wife, Betty. With beautiful views of Mt. St. Helena, the vineyard has Bale clay soils with moderate drainage. The St. Helena AVA enjoys a warm summer Mediterranean climate that offers a long, dry and sunny growing season with higher winds in the evening creating a diurnal shift allowing the vines to rest. Sustainably and meticulously farmed, family owned, third generation growers.

  • Lincoln Creek, named for the small creek that runs through it, is situated between Highway 29 in the west and the Napa River in the east. 80 acres of 100% certified organically farmed vineyards, including some of the last acres planted to Zinfandel in the Oakville AVA, family owned, fifth generation growers.

  • Pelissa Vineyard is located on the Oakville Crossroad directly behind Napa Wine Company and across the street from Opus One in the heart of the Oakville AVA. The vineyard is named in honor of Andrew and Babe Pelissa, who purchased the historic George Yount Ranch in Yountville in 1938 and were early champions of sustainable farming practices and preservation of the Napa Valley. With the cool air coming from the south combined with the warm inland air from the San Joaquin Valley, the Oakville growing region enjoys ideal diurnal shifts. 55 acres, rocky soils, dry farmed, family owned, 100% certified organically farmed vineyards, fifth generation growers.

  • Located just south of the town of Calistoga, the fifteen acre, sustainably farmed, hillside Cafferata Vineyard is positioned to the east of Hwy 29. This Merlot is picked from three of the best positioned blocks within the vineyard. The soils are a mix of volcanic gravel-loams and larger stones that have washed down from higher elevations in the northern end of the Napa Valley.

  • The Mill Race Vineyard, nestled in the curve of the Napa River’s eastern bank and protected by the Yountville Hills on the west, enjoy both warm days on the Valley floor and cooler nights by the Napa River. Situated in the Yountville AVA just south of the Oakville AVA border, the vineyard is on the site of George Yount’s original grist/flour mill which was powered by a diverted stretch of the river known as a “race”. 47 acres, 100% certified organically farmed vineyards, family owned, fifth generation growers.

ONE ACRE VINEYARDS

  • Porchview Vineyard is the original founding vineyard for One Acre, planted in 2002 by founder, Dave Becker, on his family’s property in the Oak Knoll District AVA. The Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard continues to be beautifully farmed by Dave. Situated at the base of an alluvial fan on the western hillsides of the Napa Valley, the vineyard is shielded from the hot late afternoon sun. The soil is loamy clay over gravel from Dry Creek’s ancient creek bed, which allows roots to go deep, extracting character from the soil. The vines are tightly spaced resulting in low yields, small clusters and tiny berries with intense flavors. One acre, 100% certified organically farmed, family owned.

  • Lamm Vineyard is one of the three original One Acre vineyards farmed by founder Dave Becker. Located just north of the intersection of the Silverado Trail and the Yountville Crossroad at the base of Stags Leap in the Yountville AVA, the vineyard benefits from both morning and late afternoon sun. The soil is a combination of loamy sedimentary and rocky volcanic soil that is especially suitable for Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted to identical Cabernet clones as the Porchview Vineyard, with the same root stock, same vine spacing, and same farming practices, Lamm provides the quintessential terroir comparison. One acre, organically farmed, family owned.

  • Frediani Vineyard is located in the Calistoga AVA in the middle of the valley floor at the base of the Palisades on the Silverado Trail. The vineyard enjoys hot days and chilly nights. Planted in 1935, these heritage vines sit in rocky gravel and bale clay loam soil. Head trained and dry farmed, family owned since 1898, third generation farmed.

  • Planted in 1984, the Rock Cairn Vineyard sits near the southern edge of the Oakville appellation, east of Highway 29 and north of the town of Yountville. The vineyard is named for the cairns or piles of rocks formed long ago by Native Americans, who would place a rock on a pile as an offering for safe passage as they traveled the Yountville hills. The vineyard, located in the legendary Oakville AVA, benefits from Oakville's diverse, well-drained soils, specifically ancient sea bedrock, clay and gravel and from a typically warm and agreeable climate perfect for growing red varieties. 30 acres, 100% certified organically farmed, family owned, fifth generation growers.
